What is Waswas?

The term waswas in Islam literally means “sounds like whisper , rustle” and it is used in regards to the whisper of the Shaytaan. Waswas specifically relates to delusion , suspicion , misgivings , baseless possibilities etc. Waswas can occur in terms of worship , aqeedah and even aspects of every day life

The types of waswas and it’s effects

The Shayateen try to tempt Muslims to sin and weaken their faith in Islam through doubt and negative thoughts. We refer to these thoughts as Waswas and the Arabic word وسوس appears a few times throughout the Quran . In Surah Araf verse 20 Allah tells us (فَوَسْوَسَ, fa-waswasa) , in regards to the Shaytaan whispering to Aadam and Hawaa to make apparent to them that which was concealed from them of their private parts. Indeed the whispering of the Shaytaan deceived them and made them disobey Allah through tasting the fruits of the forbidden tree.

Waswas comes in different degrees , in terms of the type of waswas and how it effects people differently. The kind of waswas which tempts a person to commit a sin , listen to/ look at haram things, makes the haram attractive to him etc comes from three sources ;

* the nafs (or self) which is inclined to evil -

And We have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein (Qaf 50:16). The waswas that comes from the nafs usually is whispers that is concerning things that is connected to its whims and desires , things that people may like or desire including music , pornography etc.

* the devils among the jinn - Then Satan whispered to him; he said, "O Adam, shall I direct you to the tree of eternity and possession that will not deteriorate?" (Ta-Ha 20:120) . The whispering that comes from the Shaytaan can make sins seem attractive to people , and also the whispering is in regards to worship , aqeedah , imaan which we will elaborate on below.

* the devils among mankind - Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind From among the jinn and mankind."} (al-Naas 114:5-6). The waswas that comes from the sons of Adam (human beings) is whispers that comes from those who have been enslaved by their desires and are enslaved by devils in this aspect. They usually approach man with a facade that they are good people yet will lead man to the deeds he will regret.

Destroying taweez (amulets)

 When it comes to destroying taweez, there are a number of things to bear in mind.  EQUIPMENT  You will need the following equipment: 1.  A tray - This will ensure that everything stays together and nothing falls on the floor. 2.  A long neck gas lighter – the kind often used for lighting barbecues. 3. A suitable container for burning the ta’weez in. I personally use a stainless steel metal cylinder, but you can use an old pan, or anything that can take the heat. 4. Gloves If the taweez is encased in a container, you will also need: 1.  A pair of pliers and scissors, and possibly other tools to open the case. 2.  Eye protection is recommended. PLEASE NOTE : If the taweez contains knots, you will also need a loose razor blade. If the method calls for ruqyah water, you will also need a bowl of tap water. *Before beginning , we recommend that during the whole process, from beginning to end, the person continually recites al-Falaq and an-Naas.* How to open the taweez: 1.  Open the taweez c

How to recognise a magician (sahir)

1. He asks patient’s his Mother’s name. 2. He takes a sweaty garment from the patient (a piece of cloth, hat, etc) 3. He sometimes asks for an animal, with certain specifications, in order to slaughter it without saying the name of Allah. 4. He may use the sacrificial blood to stain some painful areas of the patient, or throw the carcass in ruined site. 5. He writes incantations. Sometimes the incantations are written with rose water, or urine mixed with rose water, or blood of menses mixed in rose water or Saffron water. 6. He recites unclear incantations. 7. He gives the patient a hijab (incantation written on a piece of paper), which contains squares within which figures or letters are written. 8. He instructs the patient to isolate himself in a dark room and not to talk with people for certain period of time. 9. He instructs patient not to touch water for certain period of time, usually 40 days, this indicates the particular jinn working for sahir magician is a Christian jinn. 10.
