Types of illnesses caused by jinn

The jinn may cause many different types of sickness and harm to humans, affecting their psychology, moods, body, wealth, possessions, business, relations with others or studies.   The sicknesses that we are going to discuss may happen either because of the human being overpowered by the jinn, or because of witchcraft. We will discuss the remedies for these sicknesses in the light of the Qur’an and Sunnah. These sicknesses include the following:   1. Intense fear 2. Psychological and nervous diseases (insanity, depression, anxiety, tension, epilepsy, waswas (whispers from the Shaytan), personality disorders) 3. Physical sickness (i.e., physical sickness that human medicine is unable to treat, and for which there is no medical cause) 4. Hallucinations 5. Stirring up hatred between people, causing enmity and division between people such as husband and wife, business partners, friends, family 6. Female diseases (infertility, heavy bleeding and menstrual irregularities, infections) 7. Sexua

Hadith 11. Sahih Bukhari Book 71. Medicine Narrated By Abu Qatada (ra): I heard the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam saying, “A good dream is from Allah, and a bad dream is from Satan. So if anyone of you sees (in a dream) something he dislikes, when he gets up he should blow thrice (on his left side) and seek refuge with Allah from its evil for then it will not harm him.” Sahih Bukhari Volume 007, Book 071, Hadith Number 643.   Hadith 12. Sahih Bukhari Book 71. Medicine Narrated By ‘Aisha (ra): Whenever Allah’s Apostle Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam went to bed, he used to recite Surat-al-Ikhlas, Surat-al-Falaq and Surat-an-Nas and then blow on his palms and pass them over his face and those parts of his body that his hands could reach. And when he fell ill, he used to order me to do like that for him. Sahih Bukhari Volume 007, Book 071, Hadith Number 644. Hadith 13. Sahih Muslim Book 26. Evidence from the Quran and Sunnah prohibiting wearing amulets

Allah says,”And most of them believe not in Allah without associating (others as partners) with Him” Surah Yusuf (12:106)  It was narrated from Zaynab (ra) the wife of ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood (ra) from ‘Abd-Allaah (ra) that he said: “I heard the Messenger of Allaah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam say,‘Spells (Non-Quranic Ruqyah), Amulets(Taweez) and love-charms are shirk. (Narrated by Abu Dawood, 3883; Ibn Maajah, 3530) It was narrated from ‘Uqbah ibn ‘Aamir al-Juhani (ra) that a group came to the Messenger of Allaah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam  [to swear their allegiance (bay’ah) to him]. He accepted the bay’ah of nine of them but not of one of them. They said, “O Messenger of Allaah, you accepted the bay’ah of nine but not of this one.” He said, “He is wearing an amulet.” The man put his hand (in his shirt) and took it off, then he (the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam accepted his bay’ah. He said, ‘Whoever wears an amulet has committed shirk.” (Narrated by Musnad-Ahmad, 16969)   Abdulla

Destroying taweez (amulets)

When it comes to destroying taweez, there are a number of things to bear in mind.  EQUIPMENT  You will need the following equipment: 1.  A tray - This will ensure that everything stays together and nothing falls on the floor. 2.  A long neck gas lighter – the kind often used for lighting barbecues. 3. A suitable container for burning the ta’weez in. I personally use a stainless steel metal cylinder, but you can use an old pan, or anything that can take the heat. 4. Gloves If the taweez is encased in a container, you will also need: 1.  A pair of pliers and scissors, and possibly other tools to open the case. 2.  Eye protection is recommended. PLEASE NOTE : If the taweez contains knots, you will also need a loose razor blade. If the method calls for ruqyah water, you will also need a bowl of tap water. *Before beginning , we recommend that during the whole process, from beginning to end, the person continually recites al-Falaq and an-Naas.* How to open the taweez: 1.  Open the taweez c

General advice for those who are afflicted

The following is a general advice to those who are suffering from affliction , which Bi’ithnillah can help with the mental and physical effects.  A) Positive mentality This is a battle that has to be fought with a positive outlook and attitude. The shaitaan feeds off negativity and gains more control over a person’s heart and mind through these negative thoughts and feelings e.g. The shaitaan give you thoughts in the first place such as “oh I used to be so good, so healthy before now look at me I’m always ill and find it hard to avoid sins” . This is so that you start feeling despair and think “what’s the point of trying to resist, I’m going to fall into it anyway” and commit sins. Therefore it’s important to have a positive attitude when deal with jinn possession. Try not to focus on the negative things that have happened in the past, just think about the positive near future. There are ways to weaken the jinn to the extent that it has very little affect on you, but it is an uphill c

Sihr of separation

Sihr of separation is when a witchcraft practitioner will use sihr to try and cause separation between a man and his wife.  If you suspect you are dealing with Sihr of separation then here are some quick tips on what to do immediately and what not to do.    1. Do NOT panic, reach out to support services and seek help. 2. Contact a raqi & explain your suspicions. Be sure to give details of any symptoms you have both been experiencing and if there are any events that you believe are significant , as much detail as possible will help the raaqi with diagnosing and treatment.  3. Do NOT use your spouse as an outlet of stress. Try and seek refuge in Allah as much as possible. 4. Realise that your spouse may be just as influenced as you by this problem, if not worse. 5. Know there are other evil forces at work in your marriage – not just you & your spouse. 6. Do not waste valuable time on wondering who did this to you and why. This time could be used to make dua, seek treatment &

Sihr and Medicinal treatment

Sihr is an issue that is not understood by many, nor is it talked about enough amongst the Muslims. When someone is afflicted by Sihr (or by ayn/mas), it can cause actual physical damage to the victim’s body. The affliction results in a separate entity (a Jinn) residing in the human body.  This entity has not been created by Allah to be naturally part of the body. Therefore, long term afflictions can, and in most cases, do cause various chemical imbalances to the the Four Humors (blood, yellow bile, black bile, and phlegm). Along with other physical ailments. I have personally seen patients who have been suffering from Sihr for a while, developing diseases. In general, the immune system of those afflicted by Sihr, over time become weak. Because of this weakness, they get sick more frequently and easily than the average person. Other patients who already have an existing illness/disease can see notable changes, for the worse, after being afflicted by Sihr. Either way, the weakness in th

Ruqya for evil eye

According to the authentic Prophetic narrations, our Mother Aysha (ra) once said, “The Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam ordered me [or somebody else] to do Ruqya if there was danger from an evil eye.” (Sahih al Bukhari Book 69, 7:634).   According to Imam ibn Qayyim al Jauziyah, there are several Islamic prayer formulas for warding off the evil eye . The recommended Surahs are :  Surah Fatiha (1) In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. The Beneficent, the Merciful. Owner of the Day of Judgment. Thee (alone) we worship; Thee (alone) we ask for help. Show us the straight path. The path of those whom Thou hast favoured. Not (the path) of those who earn Thy anger nor of those who go astray. Surah Al-Falaq (113) In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the Daybreak. From the evil of that which He created; From the evil of the darkness when it is intense. And from the evil of malignant witchcraft

Hasad (destructive envy) and it's degrees

Hasad (destructive envy) means wishing that a blessing that Allah has bestowed on the envied person be taken away.  Allah enjoined His Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam to seek refuge with Him from the evil of the envier when he envies.  Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “Say: ‘I seek refuge with (Allah), the Lord of the daybreak, 2. ‘From the evil of what He has created, 3. ‘And from the evil of the darkening (night) as it comes with its darkness; (or the moon as it sets or goes away), 4. ‘And from the evil of those who practise witchcraft when they blow in the knots, 5. ‘And from the evil of the envier when he envies.’” [al-Falaq 113] What is meant by “when he envies” is when he manifests what he feels of envy in his heart and acts on it, and his envy makes him do something bad to the one whom he envies. Hasad is of varying degrees: 1 – When a person wants the blessing to be taken away from his Muslim brother, even if it does not come to him; rather he does not like Allah

Seeking protection for children

Ibn Aabbas related that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wasalam) used to commend Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn to Allah’s protection, saying: “I commend you to the protection of Allah’s perfect words from every devil, vermin, and every evil eye.” The recommended invocations for children are as follows :  For a boy  ‎أُعِيذُكَ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ كُلِّ ‎شَيْطَانٍ ، وَهَامَّةٍ ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ u‛eedhuka bi kalimaat-illaahit-taammati min kulli shayṭaanin, wa haammatin, wa min kulli ‛aynin laammah For a girl    ‎أُعِيذُكِ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ كُلِّ ‎شَيْطَانٍ ، وَهَامَّةٍ ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ u‛eedhuki bi kalimaat-illaahit-taammati min kulli shayṭaanin, wa haammatin, wa min kulli ‛aynin laammah For two children  ‎أُعِيذُكُمَا بِكَلِمَاتِ اللهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ ، وَهَامَّةٍ ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ u‛eedhukumaa bi kalimaat-illaahit-taammati min kulli shayṭaanin, wa haammatin, wa min kulli ‛aynin laammah For three

The evil eye is real and dangerous

The evil eye is real and extremely dangerous. The Messenger of Allah (Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam) wanted to emphasise how serious it is which is indicated in the below hadiths.  Ibn ‘Abbas reported Allah’s Messenger as saying: “The influence of ‘ayn is a fact; if anything would precede the destiny it would be the influence of the eye (Sahih Muslim) It was narrated from ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amir bin Rabi’ah, from his father, that the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “The evil eye is real.” (ibn Majah) Some situations when you can get ‘Ayn * Expressing amazement at something without asking Allah to bless it. For example you see a nice car and you say “WOW” and you don’t invoke the blessings of Allah nor mention Him – you can easily give the evil eye to that person or put it on that thing – so it will have an accident or always be unreliable * When you see something that is really pleasing or cute - for example children easily get the ‘ayn because they are often praised for their cute

How to avoid evil eye in accordance to the sunnah

In order to correctly avoid evil eye we should strive to use the recommended invocations from the Quran and the Sunnah. One should say “Barak Allaahu ‘Alayk” (بارك الله لك أو عليك)  which means “May Allaah’s blessing be upon you” to avoid evil eye, not “Maa Shaa’ Allaah” (ما شاء الله) which means “What Allaah wills.” The evidence for this is as follows ;  ‘Once a man praised another man for having very beautiful skin and claimed he had never even seen a virgin with such beautiful skin. The man became ill on the spot, and upon hearing about this, the Prophet ﷺ asked: “Why did you not say, May Allaah bless you?”’ [Muwaṭṭā of Imām Mālik (No. 1972, 1973) and it is Ṣaḥīḥ] The Prophet ﷺ said: When one of you sees in a person something which amazes him, then let him supplicate (to Allaah) to bless him.” [Jāmī’ Mu‘mār (No. 19766) and it is Ṣaḥīḥ] Evidence against using just  Maa Shaa’ Allaah: The Prophet ﷺ is reported to have said: “Whoever sees something that amazes him, let him say: “Maa sha

Identifying evil eye and some of it's treatments.

Question:  I would like to know how Muslims can differentiate between calamities that are caused by an evil eye, and others that are not related to that. Can we cure the person who has been harmed by an evil eye without knowing who gave him the evil eye? Answer: In order to differentiate between calamities that result from an evil eye and other issues, we should know the symptoms of the effect of an evil eye.  Usually, an evil eye causes symptoms that can not be treated by doctors, such as ; joint diseases, laziness, insomnia, ulcers that appear on the skin and aversion to home, school, family and society.  In addition, there may be some psychological and neurological diseases. Envied people can usually appear as pale and may present as angry, having ailments, prone to depression, sighing, forgetfulness and feeling heavy headed that their shoulders are heavy. They may also feel that their limbs are stinging, their bodies are hot and their limbs are cold. ‘Abd Al-Khaaliq Al-‘Attaar said

The consequences of envy and the importance of good relations between the muslims

One of the consequences of envy is that it can cause – by the permission of Allah – harm to the one who is envied, and is therefore considered an they are considered an evil act in Islam. Envy can cause harm even just through wishing the harm upon another. It is the virtue of the Shaytaan and it is also the virtue of Jews to envy other people. This is mentioned in Surah al-Baqarah, Ayah 109 and in Surah al-Nisa’, Ayah 54.  Since this is a harmful act, Muslims are asked to recite certain Qur’anic verses such as Surah al-Falaq, Surah an-Nas, and Surah al-Ikhlas to protect from envious people. According to the Muslim scholars, it would be preferable to recite them after the five prayers along with Ayat-ul-Kursi. The Prophet, sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam, warned Muslims against envy when he said “Creeping upon you is the diseases of those people before you: envy and hatred. And hatred is the thing that shapes. I do not say it shapes the hair but it shapes the religion. By the One in whose H

Treatment for evil eye

Narrated Aisha (RA), she said the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to tell me to recite Ruqya for protection against the evil eye. (Bukhari and Muslim) RECITE Surat AL-BAQARAH DAILY; MINIMUM ONCE but more if possible. For those of us that struggle with the recitation itself or with difficulty completing the recitation during one session, it is advised to listen to the audio recitation and put your finger on the words of the Mushaf as your following the recitation. The effects of evil eye

Sheikh Khalid Al-Hibshi says that Ayn has a tremendous amount of power. It has an influence in all areas of a person’s life, whether religious affairs, worldly affairs, moral characteristics etc. Some of the effects are summarised below: Effect on the minds: IQ, wit, memory, ability to focus, understanding and assimilation. Effect on the livelihood: Wealth, income, provisions etc. Effect on beauty: hair, face, skin colour, the body etc. Effect on religion: worship, humility, character, integrity etc. Effect on a person’s morality: modesty, truthfulness, courage, good characteristics etc. Effect on marital and family life: happiness, pregnancy, childbirth, miscarriages, raising and loving children, discord etc. Effect on ages: longevity, age relative to appearance, death, etc. Effect on the body: power, speed and activity, health and wellness, skills etc. Effect on livestock: camels, bringing down birds from the sky etc. Effects on nature: plants, trees and fruits, damage, burns, ripene

The victims of envy

The topic of envy and it’s effects is mentioned a few times through the Quran and Sunnah.  Allah Subhana Wa’Tala tells us;  “Many of the People of the Scripture wish they could turn you back to disbelief after you have believed, out of envy from themselves [even] after the truth has become clear to them. So pardon and overlook until Allah delivers His command.  Indeed, Allah is over all things competent.” (Surah Baqarah Verse 109)  “Or do they envy people for what Allah has given them of His bounty?  But we had already given the family of Abraham the Scripture and wisdom and conferred upon them a great kingdom.” (An-Nisa: 54) “And from the evil of the envier when he envies.” (Al-Falaq: 5) How does envy occur?  The most common various steps leading to envy are;  1. Enmity - a feeling of active opposition or hostility  2. Supremacy - the feeling of being superior to all others in status, power etc  3. Pride - a feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one’s own personal achi

The tricks of the shaytaan

We are aware that Shaytaan gradually misguides mankind through waswas , however he does not use the same approach for everyone. People differ in their nature, personality and ways of thinking; what appeals to one, may not appeal to another. So Shaytaan may seek to conquer someone by exploiting his love for money, while he may subdue another by his lust for fame, or might delude another by emotion. Shaytaan has different ways to enter a man’s soul and misguide it; these doorways to a person’s heart are referred to as, ‘weakness.’ Imam Ibnul-Qayyim said in Igaathat al-Lahfaam (1/32), “The Shaytaan flows through the son of Adam like blood, until it is as if he becomes part of him, so he (Shaytaan) finds out what he (a person) likes and prefers; once he knows that, he uses it against a person and enters into him through this door. He also passes this information on to his brothers and allies among mankind, so that when they want to achieve their nefarious aims against one another they do

Waswas and the righteous people

IBN TAYMIYYAH SPECIFICALLY MENTIONED THIS. HE SAID THE SHAYTAAN PLOTS AGAINST THE PEOPLE OF INAABAH (SINCERITY ) MORE THAN ANYONE ELSE, AND HE PLOTS AGAINST THOSE WHO PRAY MORE THAN THE ONES WHO DO NOT AND HE PLOTS AGAINST THE PEOPLE OF KNOWLEDGE MORE THAN HE DOES THE LAYMEN. THAT IS A REASON WHY SOMETIMES STUDENTS OF KNOWLEDGE AND WORSHIPPERS GET WISWAAS (وسواس) AND THEY GET DOUBTS. THEY GET DOUBTS MORE THAN WHAT OTHERS WHO DO NOT FOLLOW THE GUIDANCE GET. THE ONES WHO FOLLOW THE RIGHT PATH GET MORE WISWAAS (WHISPERS FROM THE SHAYTAAN) THAN THEM. Imaam Ahmad in Az-Zuhd (الزهد), Abu Na’eem in Al-Hulyah (الحلية), Ibn al-Qayyim in Al-Waabil As-Sayyib (الوابل الصيب) and Ibn Taymiyyah mentioned it throughout the Fataawa, they narrated a story that someone went to Ibn Abbaas and he said the Jews are teasing us. They say we have Khushoo’ in our Salah and we feel no Wiswaas. We have no doubts in our Salah, yet you believers have Wiswaas. Ibn Abbaas said what does the Shaytaan want with a deso

Symptoms of waswas and it’s treatment

Waswas can become a very serious issue and it may take away the pleasure of worship and instead replace it with constant worry eg whether a person did Wudu (Ablution) or Salah properly. It can become a very serious issue as a person will feel overwhelmed by paranoia with regards to their worship , will always feel a sense of inadequacy and in extreme cases it may even push a person away from their worship altogether.  In regards to worship , Waswas relates to always having doubts about ones worship , and not being sure of anything relating to worship.  What are some of the symptoms of waswas? * Uncertainly of whether you have prayed or not or prayed correctly , after you have prayed. * Wasting water doing wudu and ghusl for prolonged times as you are uncertain you have performed it correctly.  * Praying extra rak’at regularly as you have doubts about whether you prayed the correct number , even repeating the whole prayer.  * Changing your clothes constantly as you are worried they are
